In Search of Natural Tea: Growing tea in Hawaii ($40 + GENERAL ADMISSION)

Join Kimberly as she outlines her process of discovering how to make natural tea in Hawaii. Learn the mistakes that she’s made and where they've brought her in developing one of the first commercial tea farms in the United States. Hear stories from the farm and from the staff as they continue to forge ahead pioneering this new industry. Deepen your understanding of the terms ‘natural’ and ‘wild’ as tasting Hawaii-grown teas (among others) show how cultivation method, plant variety, and processing style results in specific flavor profiles.

Guests will taste 6 teas in pairs to demonstrate conventional vs. 'natural' flavors on three topics: oxidation, fertilizer, and plant variety.

Taste and learn about the seasonal teas of Darjeeling, India. This tasting will include 3-4 teas chosen to exemplify how terroir and production techniques affect taste.

BLEND YOUR OWN CHAI ($25 + GENERAL ADMISSION)

Come learn how to blend your own chai! We'll start with basic background, then show you our favorite ways to blend and brew loose leaf chai. Then you'll get your hands into some spices and create your own blend. We provide the spices, tea, and advice along the way. You'll get to take home your unique blend--keep it for yourself or give to a loved one for the holidays!

Sarah Adams is the Owner & Brewmistress of Chico Chai, a chai microbrewery in Chico, CA. She has been in business since 2004, and is always looking forward to learning more about spices & tea.
